For the first time in eight years, the modified Mamaroneck Tigers Hockey Team (comprised of seventh and eight graders at the Hommocks Middle School  and coached under John McCormick) beat long time rivals Suffern in 3-2 match this past Saturday night, Jan.5, at the Hommocks Ice Rink. Mamaroneck High School will play them this coming weekend.

"In the eight years I have been coaching the modified team at Mamaroneck we have lost to them six times, tied them once, and finally beaten them!  Coach Collins assures me that they beat them once before I came on board but is unsure of the exact year.  So you can safely say that this was a once in a decade victory," said McCormick about the win."

"Hopefully that isn’t always the case, but Suffern is an amazing program and they have speedy ninth graders. From the opening faceoff you could see they had the fire.  I saw it in their eyes before the game (how corny but true)," he said.
