Birthday: October 17
Bio: A New Jersey native, Stefani graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Art History. She lived in Brooklyn for several years, racking up enough frequent flier points on public transportation to last a lifetime. Although she loved the grittiness of Brooklyn and found it to be conducive to writing, she left it all for the tree-lined streets of Westchester and has yet to look back. Prior to freelancing for the Patch, Stefani worked as a researcher for the NYU Child Study Center, working on studies involving Asian-American children and multicultural parenting practices. She has also co-authored an article to be published in Child Development, a psychology journal.
Stefani, in her spare time, can be found poised with a notebook and pen, eagerly anticipating story ideas.
Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible and human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal certain key beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.
This disclosure is not a license for our editors to inject these beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that our beliefs are on the record will force us to be ever mindful to write, report, and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you, the user, ever think you see evidence that we failed in this mission, we wholeheartedly invite you to let us know.
Politics
- How would you describe your political beliefs?
Generally I lean to the right on fiscal matters and somewhere in the middle on most other issues.
Religion
- How religious would you say you are? Casual, observant, devout, non-religious?
I am not a part of any organized religion, but I have adopted some basic principles from eastern belief systems to guide me day to day.
Local Hot Button Issues
- What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?
Preservation of the waterfront and surrounding ecosystem, education, and development.
