Those visiting Harbor Island Park today may have noticed an unusual site amidst the boats and swans idling by: an orange-brown tint staining the area… near the Harbor.
The substance in question is organic clay and crushed brick runoff from Sporti
From the top, on my computer when I hit enter it submits the comment instead of going to a new line.…Read More seems odd stefani?...........This can't be good and Mr. Slingerland seems pretty nonchalant about it. How often does this happen?.............. My son worked installing clay tennis courts one summer and he said that there is 30 tons of clay on one tennis court. aren't there 10 courts there? For the water to look that red alot of that clay must have washed into the sound........... I get emails from Save the Sound and they are concerned about the declining condition of the sound because of all the pollutants flowing into it. I don't think they well be very happy about this.
Speeding bus drivers are minimal as compared to what we as tax payers are going to inherit. I…Read More attended many different type meetings in pursuit of an affordable, efficient, safe etc, transportation system. “I have been there before” as an called upon expert on these issues, and even articulated the clever outsourcing bus “logic” used by those in power in my book “An Other’s Mind”. It is against all economic principles demanding social justice and a lacking concern for dignity for us "others" for “outsourcing our bus system” to cost less than dealing with privatized economics of human services. Instead of our taxes going to education, which our own transportation system was connected to, we will be “crying” later for our lacking participation via demonstrations, law suits and other less “polite” means to control our children’s destiny by taking them out of the hands of people who can afford not to use buses or even, public schools. People who can send their children to private schools should not be serving on our boards; or we must make sure that those of us who send our children to public schools are on the board regardless of the board regulations established for membership. Dirty politics and games of profit are done privately. The poor worry about their next meal; the rich worry about having peace of mind so they can sleep.
Spittin' in the wind ladies...Shaps & Rubenstein (and Sacks!) don't care and never cared.…Read More Eliminating the best-trained, safest, and most stable transportation department in the county was nothing more than "cutting personnel' and H&W plans. Want your kids riding with the "low-bidder" ? Joke's on us all....transportation costs have increased worse now than with the in-house fleet..check the new budget and compare. Lotsa luck with the "rubber-stamp", "spineless" BOE in Mamroneck.
"After the complaints from Nancy, Shaps said faculty members have ridden on buses, but have not…Read More witnessed incidences of bus drivers speeding."
Well how about that. I generally respect Dr. Shaps, but he just dropped in my estimation 25% after that daft comment. Really - the drivers didn't speed after the teachers got on board and complaints had been made? No way.
we love the movies so any improvements made in our area will be welcome.
I remember when Iwent to…Read More the movies as a kid and we got free soda and popcorn all for 25cents and that was our Saturday afternoon in New York city.what fun for kids to do these things again. The movies are always fun when it is a good movie. pju
I still remember when the Larchmont and Mamaroneck theaters were
single-screen! Does anyone else…Read More remember the Go Ape series on one day in Mamaroneck? I took my kids and popped out for dinner to bring back.
I hope our Optimum cards will still get us discount tickets!

Yes the mamaroneck theatre is nice, but it is very run down. It needs a brad new everything. I am…Read More tired of going there and the seats falling apart.
I love the market because it is not only a place to buy good food but as I live here it is nice…Read More to say hello to people I know casually and do not see other ways. Most people work and are not around so this is a pleasure- have a cup of coffee and walk around to see the vendors, buy some food to prepare ,gert a new recipe even if I do not make it the next dy or two and be out in the fresh air.
It would be nice if some of the farmers were more in line with the markets- sometimes I tell people I have to go with my gold stash- I do not mind paying for quality but it has to be quality -.I know the difference. so think about this. food is so important in our lives. It helps us keep healthy and live longer and satifies our needs in a simple way.We all have to eat so eat healthy and well and enjoy the food.pju
