Fuel Spill Off Orienta Beach in Mamaroneck

The Fire Department responded to what appeared to be a fuel spill in Long Island Sound.

 

A 100 by 200 foot fuel spill off the coast of Orienta Beach in Mamaroneck appears to be under control, said Village of Mamaroneck Fire Chief Chris Syzmanowski.

The Fire Department responded at approximately 4:45 p.m. after a boater reported the spill.

"It was out in the middle of the Sound. There was no known source so there was nothing we could do," said Syzmanowski.

The Department notified both the Coast Guard and county health department.
