In an unlikely scenario at a local school, a 66-year-old male crossing guard at was assaulted by two unknown white males in a black Nissan Rogue crossover vehicle after a verbal dispute.
The guard was stationed at the corner of Murray and Colonial Avenues at 2:50 p.m., at the time school was letting out, when the men approached in their vehicle from Colonial Avenue. A verbal dispute over an unknown matter ensued, said Lt. Robert Koziak, a spokesperson for the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department. Information on the exact nature of the dispute was not released.
One of the males exited the vehicle and verbally assaulted the guard, threatening to harm him, said Koziak. Another male struck the guard in the chest, knocking him the ground.
The men sped away from the scene down Murray Avenue, striking the guard in his right leg as they fled the scene.
The victim was taken to Sound Shore Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, said Koziak.
The case is currently under investigation by the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department.
