Spring Cleaning Left You Wondering Where to Donate Furniture?

You've heard of a food bank. Furniture ShareHouse is a "furniture bank." It benefits families whose budgets for rent and food leave little for furnishings.

Larchmont and Village of Mamaroneck Joint Garbage Disposal Commission have teamed up  with non-profit "Furniture Sharehouse" to accept your gently used furniture.

The benefits of donating furniture are two-fold: The collection works toward the commission's goal of keeping as much reusable material out of the waste stream, while providing free furniture to economically disadvantaged individuals and families in Westchester County.

The Maxwell Avenue facility now has a 20' recycling container available for your donations. Items will be accepted Monday-Friday, 8:00AM - 3:00PM and Saturday 8:00AM - 11:45AM. Closed Wednesdays.

Furniture ShareHouse bills itself as "the ultimate recycler," keeping items that residents no longer need out of the waste stream.

Furniture ShareHouse provides free furniture to Westcheser residents who may be, for example, families moving out of homeless shelters into permanent housing, battered women and children escaping domestic violence, working families struggling to stay above the poverty line, or young adults aging out of foster care.

Currently Furniture ShareHouse has an urgent need for tables, chairs and clothes dressers. They seek donations of kitehcn or dining room tables and chairs in order for families to have a spot to gather.

The Village of Mamaroneck and Furniture ShareHouse were honored by Westchester County with Earth Day recycling awards this past April.

In addition to the Maxwell Avenue facility for Larchmont and Mamaroneck donations, there is Furniture ShareHouse drop off location open on Saturday June 15th at Westchester County Airport. Click for directions.
