The Mamaroneck-based Furniture Sharehouse—along with organizations in Pleasantville and Hastings—will receive an award as a notable organization dedicated to reducing waste.  Furniture Sharehouse collects donations of used furniture and donates it to local families in need. The organization has collected and redistributed over 31,000 items since its inception in 2007, and has teamed up with local municipalities to collect furniture on-site at recycling yards.

“Westchester County is looked upon as a leader in environmental stewardship, and a major reason for that is the continuing commitment made by our communities, residents and local businesses in improving the county’s local environment for the enjoyment and health of everyone,” said County Executive Rob Astorino.
