Hold on to Your Hats: Wind Advisory for Larchmont and Mamaroneck

A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.

 

Despite sunny skies and relatively warm temperatures today, there is a wind advisory in effect for Larchmont and Mamaroneck until 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Gusts as high as 44 mph could whip through the area, potentially causing power outages, downed tree limbs and difficulty driving.

Isolated power outages on Boston Post Road this morning—a result of high winds and heavy rain last night—caused a small electrical fire at Central Elementary School this morning, as well as transformer fires that caused police to temporarily block the area from Weaver Street to Nassau Road for emergency personnel.
