Larchmont Art Gallery Moving, But Not Far

Kenise Barnes Fine Art will remain in Larchmont.

There will soon be another empty storefront in Larchmont but, luckily, the owner won't be leaving the village or closing up shop.

Owner Kenise Barnes, of Kenise Barnes Fine Art on 1665 Palmer Ave., will be moving down the street to 1949 Palmer Ave. Lee Rubin, the owner of Wendy Gee—the gift shop currently in the space—will be condensing into one large storefront, making the other half available to the art gallery.

Barnes said the opportunity with Wendy Gee was fortuitous, as she was just about to sign another lease.

"My lease is up at the end of March and I have been actively looking for space, both in Larchmont and neighboring towns for six months.  Although there are some good spaces available throughout Westchester County, it made me wistful to think about leaving Larchmont, and the wonderful art lovers, collectors, neighbors and friends that I have met over the years," said Barnes in a press release sent out yesterday.

Barnes—who has been at this location since 2000—will be expanding from 650 square feet to 1,300 square feet of exhibition space and an additional 1,300 square feet of warehouse/inventory space below.

This Saturday, March 2, the gallery will hold their "Photp 13" show from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. with large scale photographs by Bastienne Schmidt, Roger Ricco and Jill Greenberg; photos will be on display through April 6.  The gallery will hold its first exhibition in the new space from April 13 to May 25 called "Abstract Thinking" featuring Yolanda Sanchez, Josette Urso, Katia Santibañez and David Collins, who has been with Kenise Barnes since 1994.
