The Town of Mamaroneck has issued a state of emergency since noon today. According to their website the Town Center will be closed tomorrow, Oct. 29, along with the Hommocks Pool, Hommocks Ice Rink, the Senior Center at the VFW, and Town Court. Additionally, there will be no garbage pick-up tomorrow.
The Village of Larchmont has issued a state of emergency effective for 5 p.m. today, according to the village's website.
Residents in low-lying areas of the village are asked voluntary evacuate their homes by 9 a.m. on Monday. A shelter at Mamaroneck High School will be opening at 4 p.m. on Sunday to house those individuals who do not have alternate shelter plans. Residents in low-lying areas may also move their cars to Parking Lot #3 at the Larchmont Railroad Station beginning at 5 p.m. today.
Please do not go near down trees or power lines and refrain from using candles if the power goes out. Also, be sure to power generators outside to avoid carbon monoxide emissions.
Additionally, while village crews have been hard at work clearing leaves away from storm drains/catch basins, we still need your help. If you see leaves around these areas, please help the village to clear them away. By doing this, it will enable the water to drain better through the proper channels and hopefully alleviate further flooding potential from this storm.
The village has also issued an announcement to residents which can be viewed by clicking to the right of this article.
