Trustee Session, Election Day and Whiskey

Here are some of the things you should know for the week ahead.

1. There will be a Village of Mamaroneck Trustee Work Session at 5:30 p.m. Monday, November 4 in the Regatta Room, 123 Mamaroneck Ave.

2. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday to elect, among others, county executive and county legislator.

3. After last night's dip into the low 30s, the rest of the week doesn't seem to be so bad. Monday's high will be hear 47; Tuesday's, 53. Wednesday will be up to near 64, with Thursday near 65. Friday's high temperature goes back down slightly to near 52. Nighttime lows won't get below freezing through the rest of the week.

4. Want to learn how to taste wine? AOC Fine Wines, 168 Huguenot St. in New Rochelle is having a Wine Class  at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 6. You will educate your palate and expose it to aromas and flavors of different wines. Wine Club members can attend the class for free. Otherwise, admission is $50, but you get two or three bottles of AOC's Wine of the Month. Call 914-355-2690.

5. From 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, November 8, Morton's The Steakhouse, 9 Maple Ave. in White Plains will be pairing Local Choice Whiskey with it cuisine. Cost per guest is $125, including tax and gratuity. For every bottle of Local Choice sold, $2 will be donated to WHite Plains Performing Arts Center by Local Choice. Morton's White Plains will be donating all profits to the arts center. The menu for the evening includes miniature crab cakes, New Orleans-style jumbo shrimp in creole cream sauce, prime ribeye steak with chocolate rub and white chocolate pecan bread pudding with Bourbon sauce.
