Buy Groceries and Raise Money for Mamaroneck Schools

The Stop and Shop program helps schools pay for programs and improvements.

Do your grocery shopping and help your favorite Mamaroneck school by enrolling in Stop and Shop's A+ Bonus Bucks program.

Over the past three years, the Mamaroneck Union Free School District has received more that $55,000 from the program, according to district spokeswoman Debbie Manetta. She added that they have already raised $8,000 this year and are tracking ahead of last year.

Money received last year was used to create a new health education center on the third floor of the north wing of Hommocks Middle School.

At Mamaroneck High School, the money funded the new Wellness Center and also went toward scholarships for students who needed materials and supplies.

To participate, you must register your Stop and Shop card on the A+ site.

Here are instructions on registering:

  1. Go to www.stopandshop.com/aplus and click on the button that says ‘Register your Card’ (or Customer Registration).
  2. Next, you will be asked to enter the first 3 letters of your last name as well as your 13-digit card number.
  3. You’ll then be asked to select the schools you’d like to support. To do so, click on the arrow next to City and State and scroll down to either Larchmont or Mamaroneck, depending upon which school(s) you’d like to select. Click on the circle next to the school(s) of your choice—you may select up to 2 schools.  (Please note, if you are selecting schools in both Mamaroneck and in Larchmont, you will need to go through the process twice.) Click on the buttons to confirm your selection and your information, and then you’re done!  It will take you no more than 2 minutes to register.

Anyone who has a Stop and Shop card can participate; if you participated last year, you must re-register. Then every time you use your card between now and March 20, 2014, Larchmont and Mamaroneck public schools will earn money.
