Graffiti found in a boys' bathroom at Hommocks Middle School Tuesday led police detectives to launch an investigation.
in an email from Principal Seth Weitzman, parents were told that a student saw the graffiti that threatened the school on a particular day in October.
The Town of Mamaroneck Police Department were contacted and concluded there was no imminent threat. Detectives launched an investigation and are working to identify the culprit.
"Working closely with the police, we will remain vigilant to assure the safety of Hommocks students and staff," Weitzman wrote. "Security precautions, which include restricted access to the building and diligent campus safety officers, will remain in effect."
District spokeswoman Debbie Manetta said school was dismissed at the regular time Tuesday and classes started Wednesday on the normal schedule.
She would not say whether extra security has been put into effect, because the case is still under investigation.
