celebrated village in the world. It has a long tradition as a haven for


nonconformists. Some of the topics that will be discussed include the creation


of Washington Square and Washington Square Park, New York University, Greek


Revival Architecture, the Louisa May Alcott House, the Stonewall Uprising and


the Triangle Shirtwaist Company fire on March 25, 1911, which was the site of


the worst workplace disaster in the United States until the collapse of the


World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001.
