Exhibit at Yonkers Riverfront Library Gallery Features Work of Liberian Artsist

Yonkers, N.Y.-  A solo show of work by artist Rosalind Brenner MFA’09, “Possibilities/Energy Paintings” will run from January 3 - May 20 in the Gallery of the Esther Raushenbush Library at Sarah Lawrence College. In this exhibit are figurative abstract paintings, collage, and poems as well as the artist’s debut book of paintings and poems, All That's Left.  An Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 3 p.m.

According to her artist’s statement, Rosalind Brenner’s art, both process and result, is an expression of a mining of observation, exploration of symbol, color, form, shape, imagery and wild imaginings.  Mixing mediums, she achieves a tactility and fluidity, layering, building on the play between depth and two-dimensionality.

In her visual art she will often start with words, which become a calligraphic design element of the work, no longer readable, but adding a curious mix of in and out that draws forth a deep observation of the picture plane as she layers it further. Her poetry is lyric and narrative and creates a visual feast as she shapes words into imagistic landscape. The work evolves into strength of statement as well as a field into which to travel.
