Scarecrows, Turkish Cooking and More Sunny Weather

Here are a few of the things you need to know for Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.

1. Registration is now underway for the Third Annual Larchmont Scarecrow Festival sponsored by the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library. To participate in this year’s festival, registration must be completed by Saturday, October 5.  Registration can be done online at www.larchmontscarecrowfestival.org or by picking up an entry form at the library.

2. Curious about Turkish cooking? Try the One Shot Cooking Class at the Turkish Cultural Center Westchester at 7 p.m. Thursday, 133 E. Main St. in Elmsford. Every month we will have different exotic Turkish delicacies on the menu. Learn how to prepare traditional Turkish meals and afterwards invite your friend's to a special meal you prepared. This month's dishes are Turkish Style Lentil Soup, rice, meatball (kofte) and Revani (dessert). Admission is $20.

3. I don't mind sounding like a broken record but Thursday's weather will be great—again. The National Weather Service forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high near 71. Overnight, it will be partly cloudy, with a low around 55.

4. ICYMI: Hudson Valley Artists to Honor Rye Scenery Saturday.

5. Tides: Thursday—low, 10:36 a.m.; high, 5:15 p.m.; Friday—low, 12:33 a.m.; high, 6:21 a.m.
