Scarecrows Registration, Pediatric Cancer and the Shutdown

Here are a few things you need to know for Thursday, October 3, 2013.

1. You have until Saturday to register for the Third Annual Larchmont Scarecrow Festival sponsored by the Friends of the Larchmont Public Library. To participate in this year’s festival, registration must be completed by Saturday, October 5.  Registration can be done online, which is good because the library is closed. You can pick up a form Saturday when the library reopens. But why wait?

2. Pediatric Cancer Foundation (PCF) is celebrating its 43rd year at their Opening Fall Luncheon—Couture for a Cure—Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Trump National Golf Club, Briarcliff Manor, NY. Doors open at 11:00am. Silent and Chinese Auction preceding Luncheon. Highlights of the luncheon include key note speaker Daniel Rosen, who is one of the foundation's heroes because of his extraordinary efforts to combat pediatric cancer, and Neiman Marcus, Westchester, features their Fall 2013 fashion presentation.

3. According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will be sunny with a high near 80. Thursday night, it will be mostly cloudy with a low around 61.
