Election Day: Voting and Knitting for Charity

Here are some of the things you need to know for Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

1. It's Election Day, and the schools are closed to students, but the polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. There are county-wide posts to decide, as well as local races. There are also some propositions to be voted on. Here is a roundup of what is on the ballot in Larchmont and Mamaroneck, and here is how you can find out where to vote.

2. Get your knitting needles and join the Project Linus knitting/crochet group Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Larchmont Public Library, 121 Larchmont Ave. The group has created and donated several blankets to Sound Shore Hospital for the benefit of local children. No registration is required.

3. There won't be any weather-related reasons for not voting Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service, it will be partly cloudy with a high near 52. Overnight, it will be mostly cloudy, with patchy fog after 11 p.m. The low will be around 45.

4. ICYMI: How about thrift store shopping that does some good? Read this.

5. Tides: Tuesday—high, 11:40 a.m.; low, 6:29 p.m.; Wednesday—high, 12:16 a.m.; low, 6:33 a.m.
