Drainage Construction in Mamaroneck Delayed

A drainage construction project in Mamaroneck that was to have taken place during the night hours through Saturday has been delayed.

Village Manager Richard Slingerland sent out a notice Tuesday that the construction work at the intersection of Boston Post Road and North/South Barry Avenue was postponed because there are "significant and substantial rock deposits that need to be hammered and excavated out" to make way for the drainage pipe.

He said the start date was changed to Friday, August 9, and will continue Monday, August 12 through Thursday, August 15.

The hours of construction are scheduled for 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Slingerland said all lanes of traffic will be open and passable to traffic during the day. While Boston Post Road will be open and passable to traffic in both directions during the night, there will be traffic back-ups due to lane closures.

Based on the revised schedule, construction beneath Boston Post Road should be completed on or about Thursday, August 15. If it is not finished that night, work will resume at 7 p.m. Monday, August 19. There will be no night work Friday, August 16.
