Hounds on the Sound Takes Over Glen Island Park
Residents and dog owners get together to support local animal rescue groups.
Over a thousand pet owners brought their canine companions to Glen Island Park in New Rochelle on Sunday to help support two local animal rescues. The annual dog walk, known as Hounds on the Sound, is a joint effort of the New Rochelle Humane Society and Larchmont's Pet Rescue. "We decided to get together and run a big joint event," explained Dianne Heim of New Rochelle Humane Society. "All the money raised is divided 50/50 between our two groups." Dogs and their owners enjoyed a day filled with contests, vendors and the sounds of Larchmont-Mamaroneck's 45 RPM band.
