The Top Spot: Rye Neck defended their home court with a 56-43 victory over visiting Valhalla last night. The Panthers were led by Brendan Crowley’s 18 points and Matt Franks added 14 in the victory. Terrance Tribble led Valhalla with 12 points. The win guarantees that Rye Neck will have a winning season for the first time in six years.     Yesterday’s Results: Sport: Girls Basketball Game: Rye Neck vs. Valhalla Score: Rye Neck Won 35-34 Highlights: Sarah Cochrane hit the game winning lay up in the final seconds of the contest. Daily Sports Digest: Mamaroneck Outlasts New Rochelle in Overtime

The Top Spot: Matt Mezansky continues to lead the Tigers in scoring as the guard picked up 20 points in a thrilling overtime victory at New Rochelle. Mamaroneck outlasted the Huguenots in the 58-55 win as the Tigers dominated the defensive battle and hit the clutch free throws down the stretch. New Rochelle’s Joe Clarke led the team with 15 points in the loss and Clark had a clutch put back at the end of regulation to force overtime. LaPoint Back Again As Rockland Boulders Manager

Former Yankee looks to improve upon 40-52 finish in 2011.

The Rockland Boulders say that former New York Yankee Dave LaPoint will return as manager for the 2012 season of the Can-Am League professional baseball team.   In 2011, the Boulders first season of play, LaPoint managed the team as it went 40-52, finishing in 5th place.   “This season we will be more prepared when it comes to putting the team on the field.” LaPoint said. “We have acquired some pretty good players in the offseason and are looking to add some more before the season starts. We have a beautiful stadium with great fans. It is our duty to improve on last year by quite a margin and we will do that,” he said. NY Giants Ticker-Tape Parade Set for Tuesday

The Super Bowl champions will be feted by NYC Tuesday.

The celebratory ticker tape parade for the New York Giants—winner of Super Bowl XLVI—will kick off at Battery Place and Washington Street in New York City on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. “Big Blue gave us a game to remember, and on Tuesday we're going to give them a parade to remember,” said New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a statement today. The parade will travel north on the Canyon of Heroes to Worth Street. A ceremony will follow at City Hall, where the mayor will present the Keys to the City to the team. Daily Sports Digest: Giant Weekend Highlighted by Local Wrestlers

Your interactive, daily digest for all Larchmont and Mamaroneck scores, schedules and standings — and a place for you to add information and images for all of your favorite sports and teams.

The Top Spot: Wrestling dominated the Giant sports weekend as teams from all over met up for the divisional tournament at Mahopac, Horace Greeley, Arlington or Harrison. Mamaroneck competed in Division 1 at Harrison. Two of the Tiger wrestlers made it into the finals, however, neither one of them could prevail. Mamaroneck’s Ben Miller (152) was defeated by RC Ketcham’s Brad Marvin and Dion Duran (160) was pinned by Fox Lane’s Matt Pasqualini in one minute. Daily Sports Digest: Local Wrestlers Get Prepared for Divisional Tournament

Your interactive, daily digest for all Larchmont and Mamaroneck scores, schedules and standings — and a place for you to add information and images for all of your favorite sports and teams.

The Top Spot: On Saturday, wrestlers from across the Hudson Valley will be competing against one another in the divisional tournaments. The four divisions will be at Harrison, Arlington, Horace Greeley and Mahopac.  The top four placers at each tournament in each weight class will qualify for the section tournament next weekend. Wrestling will begin at each location at 10 a.m. with the finals expected to kick off around 4 p.m.  The Mamaroneck Tigers will be competing in Division 1 at Harrison High School on Saturday at 10 a.m. Other schools competition in the first division are Fox Lane, Harrison, John Jay (CR), John Jay (EF), Nyack, Ketcham, Rye, White Plains and of course, Mamaroneck. The following was submitted by Lesli Uribe, a skateboarding mom: The skateboarding scene may reverberate as an off beat subculture sport. But, interpretations can often be misguided when blinded by a fashion statement or an attitude. My son Lucas stepped on our neighbors’ skateboard at age 5. My knee jerk reaction was to panic. After suiting him up with all the protective armor, I finally breathed a little easier. His enthusiasm was so primal. His passion was so contagious that even I became addicted to the skateboarding scene. No matter what park we went to, Lucas was welcomed by every senior skater, teaching him the tricks, the maneuvers and the essential skateboarding etiquette.
