Hommocks Middle School is part of the Mamaroneck Union Free School District, which covers an area of over eight…More square miles and includes the entire Village of Larchmont, the unincorporated area of the Town of Mamaroneck and most of the Village of Mamaroneck, excluding Rye Neck. Its diverse student body represents over eighty nations, first generation or later.</p> <p>The school offers a wide range of programs, such as the "Science Pentathlon," a performance music program, conservation projects, numerous after school clubs, accelerated math and earth science courses, and the Hommocks Writer literary magazine and Tiger Times.</p> <p>Students also participate in numerous fund-raising activities for local, national and international causes. About one third of the student body is involved in the Service Club, donating their time to places such as the Children's Corner and Sarah Neuman Nursing Home. </p> <p>Other after-school activities include Student Council, the Hommocks Players and a wide range of intramurals. Some of the sports offered by the school are football, track, swimming, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, wrestling and lacrosse. </p>

There are two components to Hommocks Pool -- the main, indoor pool that is open year-round, and the outside pool…More complex that is open seasonally.</p> <p>Located on the grounds of Hommocks Middle School, the large, main pool is utilized by students during school hours, but is open to permit-holding members during evening hours and weekends. It is 135 feet long and 75 feet wide, with depths ranging from 3 1/2 feet to 11.2 feet. The pool is owned and operated by the school, and is rented out to the Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Department for seasonal use.</p> <p>The outside complex, operated by the Town of Mamaroneck, is open in the summer for camp-goers and permit holders. It features a 30-by-5o-foot training pool, which is 2 to 3 feet deep, and a wading pool with a mushroom-shaped waterfall for smaller bathers. There is also a large, grassy area, two pavilions, chairs, tables and a snack stand.</p> <p>To enjoy the pool, residents of the Unincorporated Town of Mamaroneck and Villages of Mamaroneck and Larchmont must register in person (though the application is available online) at the Town Center Recreation Office at 740 West Boston Post Road; two proofs of residency are required. </p> <p>Pool permits are also needed for participation in the many aquatic programs available at Hommocks Pool, including swim lessons, diving, scuba instruction and lifeguard training.</p>
