Village of Mamaroneck Departments and Committees

Village Assessor

The Village Assessor maintains an annual assessment for all properties in Village of Mamaroneck. This assessment is based on the value of properties on the taxable status date of January 1st of each year. The assessor maintains a property record card on all properties in the village and administers all real property exemptions, such as senior citizen, veterans and religious.

Building Department

Building Department provides services to property owners concerning documentation and certifications of structures within the Village. It is also responsible for building, zoning and other code enforcements, and reviews applications, drawings and plans for building permits, plumbing permits, dumpster permits, sign permits, demolition permits and electrical permits.

Clerk-Treasurer

The Clerk-Treasurer is the chief financial officer, who manages the revenues, investments and expenditures of the village. The officer also makes the annual budget, annual financial statements and reports of the village and submits it to Board of Trustees. The clerk-treasurer also manages the Management Information Services office and maintains the village's local area network as well as its automated systems, computer hardware, computer software and the Village's Web site.

Harbormaster

Harbormaster oversees and administers all vessels located within the waterways of Harbor Island, assigns float space or mooring space, and maintains records of dock and mooring assignments. It also issues ramp permits for launching boats.

The Harbormaster office is located adjacent to the West Basin of the Mamaroneck Harbor in Harbor Island Park. For more information, call Joseph Russo at 914-777-7744.

Mamaroneck Village Court

Mamaroneck Village Court is in session at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays for vehicle and traffic matters, civil actions, small claims and Village Code matters and on Thursdays for criminal matters. The court is also in session on one Wednesday, at 8 a.m. as needed for small claims matters. Hearings, trials and small claims proceedings may also be held on other days and at other times during the week.

Richard E. Lanza and Daniel J. Gallagher are the Judges in the court. The court is located at 169 Mount Pleasant Ave. and can be reached at 914-777-7710.

Village Manager

The Village Manager is the chief executive officer and chief administrative officer of the village, who is responsible for the daily operations of all village departments, except for Police Department. The manager's responsibilities include human resources administration, labor relations, grants writing and coordination, project management, budget officer and Village liaison with other governmental entities.

Richard Slingerland serves as the village manager and can be reached at 914-777-7703. His office is located at 123 Mamaroneck Ave.

Department of Public Works

Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the operation of streets, parks, sanitation, sewers, storm drains, street lights, street sweeping, street signs maintenance, tree maintenance and fleet maintenance. It also issues permits for street and sidewalk openings. Some of the divisions in DPW are public works administration, sanitation, highway, parks maintenance,sewer and storm drain maintenance, central garage, electrical, traffic/sign, carpentry and paint.

Tony Iacovelli is the general foreman and can be reached at 914-777-7745. His office is located at 313 Fayette Ave., and operates from 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Recreation Department

Recreation Department handles the scheduling of playing fields and other recreational facilities. It is also responsible for all recreation programs and seasonal special events conducted by the village.

Rosanne Saracino is the superintendent of recreation, and can be reached at 914-777-7784. The office is located at the Beach Pavilion in Harbor Island Park.

Village Attorney

The Village Attorney acts as advisor to the village staff, and the various boards and commissions within the village, and assists them in carrying out their functions. The attorney prepares legislation, drafts and reviews contracts, and renders opinions on a variety of issues. The attorney is appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Board of Trustees.

Village Historian

The Village Historian is in charge of preserving the community's history through historic preservation, genealogy, urban history, ethnic studies and interest in local government records of all kinds. The historian also maintains an archival records center, writes research papers and speaks to school children and other groups.

Budget Committee

Budget Committee was established on May 29, 1990. It meets on the third Monday of every month in the Village Hall court room at 7:30 p.m. It is chaired by Leon Potok, whose term expires December 2012. Other members of the committee are:

Larchmont-Mamaroneck Cable TV Advisory Committee

Larchmont-Mamaroneck Cable TV Advisory Committee is responsible for advising Tri-Municipal Cable Television Board of Control, which handles the relationship between Village of Larchmont and its neighboring municipalities, the town and village of Mamaroneck, as well as the cable television operators and LMC-TV. It meets as required. It has members from all three areas, who serve a two-year term. The members of the committee are:
