<p>A part of the Unified Court System of New York State, the Town of Mamaroneck Court can adjudicate both civil and criminal cases of original jurisdiction, including criminal offenses committed within the town, original civil actions and small claims of up to $3,000, traffic and parking offenses, landlord/tenant proceedings and violations of town ordinances or state and county codes.</p>
<p>The Town Court and the Court Clerk's office are in the Town Center. The Court Clerk maintains all court-related records, and jury and non-jury trials take place in the courtroom.  </p> <p>Elected to four-year terms, justices perform a number of duties in criminal proceedings, such as arraigning and sentencing defendants, setting bail, issuing protection orders, and holding felony and other preliminary hearings. They also act as family court judges when family court is not in session. </p> <p>Parking and moving violations fines can be paid by mail or at the court clerk's office. Cases for contested tickets can be made during court sessions.</p>
