Wine Tasting and Halloween for Kids and Pets

Here are some of the things you should know about for this weekend.

1. Plenty of fresh produce and other goodies are still available from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Down to Earth Farmers Market in New Rochelle (North Avenue in front of the high school) and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Rochelle Grand Market on Library Green, Lawton and Huguenot streets. And from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Larchmont is the Down to Earth Farmers Market held at the Metro-North train station.

2. Sample and purchase fine wines from around the world and help the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. The tasting will be held at Stanz Cafe, 26 Chatsworth Ave. in Larchmont. Tickets at the door are $45 and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

3. Put on your Halloween costume and head to FunFuzion in New Roc City in New Rochelle Saturday for Monster Mash. A free—for all in costume—event that includes indoor trick or treating, games and prizes and a half-hour game card. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is repeated Friday, Nov. 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

4. Howl-O-Ween is an animal charity event on Saturday at Central Animal Hospital, featuring a pet costume contest, professional pet photos, and fun for the kids. Light refreshments will be provided. All proceeds will be donated to: The Pet Adoption League, New Rochelle Humane Society and Cat Assistance NY. For more information please visit the Web site www.bestvets.net or call: (914) 723-1250. 5. Kids can come to the Emelin Theater at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in costumes for a special Halloween performance by Rolie Polie Guacamole. They will dance, sing and laugh along with this rocking “kindie” band from Brooklyn that’s now a hit across the country. They will be performing songs like Time for HummusSwim Like the Dolphin and Red Light Green Light. It's for ages 2 and up. Tickets are $13. The Emelin Theatre is located at 153 Library Ln. in Mamaroneck.
