Marine Life, Mexican Food and Music and Ask a Dog Trainer

Here are a few of the things going on in and around Larchmont and Mamaroneck this weekend.

1. Have you seen the new Marine Education Center in at Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck yet?  If not, come on down this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon to check out spider crabs, shells, horseshoe crabs and more. It's open every Saturday, or whenever the flags are flying.

2. Saturday in New Rochelle the BID Family Market Day will feature the sounds and tastes from South of the Border. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Library Green, 1 Library Plz. in New Rochelle, families can enjoy live performances of regional music and dance, sample tastes from downtown Mexican restaurants, make miniature piñatas and colorful tiles to take home, and visit the many other Grand Market vendors. 

3. Stop by the Mamaroneck Veterinary Hospital, 649 W Boston Post Rd. in  Mamaroneck, any time between noon and 5 p.m. Saturday, September 14th, and speak with Sue McMichael of Enjoyable Dog Training. She will happily answer your questions regarding dog training and the sport of dog agility. Classes are offered in Basic Training, Obedience and Dog Agility. 4. The Westchester Sandbox Theatre announces auditions for its YPT Kids production of Peter Pan, directed by Artistic Director Jason Summers. Auditions are open to performers in grades K through 5. Auditions will take place on Sunday September 15 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and Tuesday September 17 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Westchester Sandbox Theatre, located at 931c East Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck. Performers should prepare a song for auditions and bring sheet music, a karaoke track or be prepared to sing a capella. A registration fee of $395 is due at the first rehearsal. 5. The Tarrytown-Sleep Hollow 9/11 Ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday. It will be at the Washington Street side of Patriot's Park, north of the entrance to the park. There is a 9/11 monument located near the brook on that side of the park.
