Road Work Continues, Obamacare and Sukkot

Here are a few things you need to know for the week of Sept. 16, 2013.

1. The Village of Mamaroneck said there will be night work only at Barry Avenue and Boston Post Road Monday through Friday. During the day there will be catch-basin project work at various locations.

2. There will be closings of the northbound lanes of the Bronx River Parkway during the day beginning Tuesday. You can find details here.

3. A press conference and flyer handout in support of Obamacare at 11 a.m. Monday in front of the New Rochelle Post Office, Huguenot Street and North Avenue. For more information, click here.

4. Celebrate Sukkot at FunFuzion in New Roc City, 19 LeCount Pl. in New Rochelle, Thursday, Sept. 19 through Wednesday, Sept. 25. A Large Sukkah and Glatt Kosher food will be available. Here is more information.

5. At the Larchmont Public Library at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, Rob Goldstone Presents Great Movie: Passage to Marseille. The screening will be in the Village Center. The 1944 movie stars Humphrey Bogart, Claude Rains, Michele Morgan and Peter Lorre and is set in World War II. As French bomber crews prepare an air raid from a base in England, we learn the story of Matrac (Bogart), a French journalist who opposed the Munich Pact. Framed for murder and sent to Devil’s Island, he and four others escape. They are on a ship bound for Marseilles when France surrenders and fascist sympathizer Major Duval (Sydney Greenstreet) tries to seize the ship for Vichy. This film is not rated.
