Common Core, School Conversation and Manhattan String Quartet

Here are some of the things you should know for the week of October 28, 2013.

1. Common Core Learning Standards and other educational reforms will be discussed Monday, Oct. 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Port Chester Middle School in Westchester County. This is one of a series of forums taking place around the state. Here are the details.

2. The Mamaroneck Union Free School District wants to hear from community members so it's holding a community conversation at 7:30 p.m. Monday, October 28 in the Hommocks Middle School library, 130 Hommocks Rd., Larchmont. Read the article for more.

3. The Manhattan String Quartet will be performing at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Sarah Lawrence College. The concert is free. Here is more information.

4. The League of Women Voters of New Rochelle is sponsoring a Candidates Forum at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 for three County legislative districts: 7, 10 and 11. The forum will be at the New Rochelle City Hall, 515 North Ave., New Rochelle. Go here for the schedule of speakers.
