Mamaroneck Nursing Home Residents Help Pack Care Packages For Christmas Delivery

Residents of Sarah Neuman participated in the "Build a Box" program.

As elderly residents of the Center in Mamaroneck gingerly placed bracelets and frilly dolls side by side in boxes intended for a underprivileged children in far flung places, some anticipated the effect the boxes would have on the young recipients.

"I love all the little gifts that these children are going to be getting. I packed a box for a little girl and imagine her expression when she sees the pink glass beaded bracelet that went into her package," said resident Marjorie Andrews.

As part of the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child "Build a Box" program, residents of the Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck helped pack 25 shoes boxes with donated items including toys, dolls, jewelry as well as necessities like tooth brushes and toothpaste. Also part of each package was a hand-written note from a resident to each child.
