MyDropOff Opens 24/7 Kiosk in Larchmont, Has Grand Opening

The laundry/dry cleaning service is asking people to bring canned goods to the grand opening to help a local food bank.

A new laundry service that combines convenience with technology is holding a grand opening weekend in Larchmont Saturday and Sunday.

MyDropOff had its official ribbon cutting Friday with Larchmont Village Mayor Anne H. McAndrews wielding the giant scissors.

Priscilla Goma, whose husband Sherif Goma is co-owner with Donald Utschig, said the service, located at 1967 Palmer Ave., can be thought of as "kind of like an ATM" for dry cleaning and wash-and-fold laundry.

She explained that once a customer has signed up on the Web site he or she can drop off their clothes at Palmer Avenue location anytime day or night, placing them in an empty locker and setting a pin number.

When the dry cleaning or laundry is ready—usually within 24 hours—the customer receives a text message telling them which locker it will be located in and what pin number to use to open it.

New customers will be given laundry bags that contain a chip containing their information, which makes subsequent drop-offs easier, Goma said.

MyDropOff will have a grand opening ceremony from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. There will be a goodie bag giveaway and a raffle.

From noon to 2 p.m. Saturday there will be snacks and face painting for kids.

Goma said she wanted the grand opening to be more than just an a meet and greet for the community.

"I wanted to incorporate a charity into it," she said.

Goma arranged to partner with the Hunger Task Force Inc. which serves Larchmont and Mamaroneck by asking people coming to the grand opening to drop off canned goods.

"We will match the donations," she said. "I love the fact that they help feed the community."
