Rye Neck’s Shore Acres Neo Colonial Beauty Welcomes the Public to 617 The Parkway Value-Added Open House, August 18, 12 Noon – 2:30 PM

Houses like this aren’t made any more.  There are the McMansion wannabes, of course, but even the meanest bad wolf or nor’easter couldn’t huff and puff with all their might and have their way with this solid, 4,336 sq. ft. red-brick Neo Colonial beauty built in 1915.  Located in the very desirable Rye Neck School District and Shore Acres neighborhood of Mamaroneck, today’s 617 The Parkway Value-Added Open House welcomes the public Sunday, August 18th, from 12 Noon to 2:30 PM.  The stately, six-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath house is the largest, most competitively-priced house, at $1.6 million, currently listed with Realtors within a three-mile radius of Mamaroneck, Harrison and Scarsdale.

Participating in today’s open house will be specialists in interior design and renovations, landscape architecture, and financing for today’s economy.

(Dr.) Duncan Himmelman, Greater Gardens of Greenwich, is an accomplished horticulturalist, landscape architect and educator.  His design installations span international borders and his professional credentials include affiliations with Metropolitan New York’s world-famous botanical gardens as well as a four-year residency at Wellesley College.  He has planned and overseen the installation of four-season gardens ranging from a several-acre estate in Greenwich to the recently completed Phase One renovation of the garden courtyard at Phipps Houses in Sunnyside Queens, an affordable housing complex of classic Tudor-style architectural design.

Also invited to participate (still to be confirmed) is a licensed mortgage broker with one of the top 100 direct lenders in the United States.  From my experience in working with this individual, who has 13-years-experience, I can attest to his claim that he is “great at structuring deals and solving problems (and) common sense underwriting.”

What I especially appreciate about this gracious house and what I hope a well-informed buyer on the hunt for the perfect home will fall in love with is how its classic architectural details of a bygone era were blended seamlessly with modern upgrades, such as central air and gas heating. Built in 1915, it is a tribute to Georgian-influenced, Neo Colonial architecture.  Design purists will appreciate its strict symmetrical arrangements, from its properly centered paneled front door with its decorative a jour crown pediment to its multi-pane windows, Doric fluted columns and dual chimneys. The interior is also true to the Neo Colonial period with such details as decorative dentilwork moldings.
