Academic and historian Dr. Richard Greenwald will be the featured speaker at awards ceremony. He has written widely on urban affairs, education, and the changing workplace.

The following announcement is from the Mamaroneck-Larchmont Student Aid Fund:

The Mamaroneck-Larchmont Student Aid Fund (SAF) is delighted to announce that its 2014 Awards Ceremony will be held on Monday evening, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. The community is invited to join the festive program as 50 MHS graduating seniors receive two-year college scholarships in the PACE Auditorium of Mamaroneck High School.

“These outstanding students are on their way to bright futures, with the help of all our generous donors in the Mamaroneck and Larchmont communities. We look forward to celebrating them,” said SAF President Nancy Winkelstein.

Dr. Richard Greenwald will be the featured speaker at Awards Night. An academic and and historian, Dr. Greenwald has written widely on urban affairs, education, and the changing workplace. He was recently named Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at Brooklyn College. He is a contributor to “First Generation Student,” a national online community and resource for first-generation college students and their families.

This year’s Awards Night marks the 76th year of Student Aid Fund grants to MHS graduates to help them attain their educational goals. Scholarship money is raised through contributions from the community and administered by a volunteer board. Awards are based solely on a student’s financial need and SAF resources each year. This year, contributions and income enabled SAF to fund over $300,000 in scholarships for the Class of 2014.
