Arts Take Center Stage in Mamaroneck Schools This Week

Mamaroneck High School will feature a video screening at 7 p.m. this Thursday in the PACE Theatre, according to an email blast from the district.

Featuring work produced by MHS video students, the work is "outstanding" and a hint of what's in store can be seen in the YouTube 1-minute trailer embedded just above, the Mamaroneck Union Free School District said in an email.

Other highlights this week include:  

  • 12 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10: Mamaroneck High School and Hommocks Choirs sing at a noon concert at the Met Life building in New York City.  "If you are in the city during lunchtime tomorrow, stop by to see our talented singers continue the annual tradition of performing in this exciting venue. They always do a beautiful job."
  • 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10: MHS Band Ensemble Concert in McLain Aud. "Come enjoy an evening of wonderful jazz classics and exciting percussion ensemble music. Two jazz bands and our percussion ensemble will perform a variety of material taking you on a Journey from the 1940's through the sounds of today."
  • 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12: MHS All-Student Art Show/Opening Reception in the Palmer Art Gallery at MHS. "The work in the MHS Art Dept. is officially under way for the 2013 to 2014 school year! Please come and see our Grades 9-12 all-media art exhibit entitled 'Under Way.'  Opening reception is from 7-9 pm.  Enjoy more than 500 examples of student photography, drawing, painting, collage and ceramic sculpture."
