Join us at the Long Island Sound Citizens Summit!

The 23rd Annual Long Island Sound Citizens Summit will be held on Friday, April 25th from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm in New Rochelle. We'd love to see you there!

Long Island Sound has seen much change since Adriaen Block sailed its length 400 years ago. Urban centers sprung up on its shores, fishing industries persevered through booms and busts, and water quality struggled to cope with pollution.  Recognizing we were facing a tipping point, the 1994 Long Island Sound Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (“CCMP”) was established as a blueprint to protect and restore this culturally important estuary. The 2014 Summit will bring together a wide variety of stakeholders – including businesses, universities, and members of the public – to highlight this historic moment and to discuss and prioritize goals and strategies for Long Island Sound's updated management blueprint.

This highly anticipated conference is loaded with experts from the scientific, cultural, and community fields and will feature Long Island Sound advocates, agencies, and participation from the public to discuss the Sound's past, present, and future. The conference will conclude with a government action panel that will highlight the CCMP themes and priorities from the breakout session, while addressing the best ways to communicate successes and promote funding for the four CCMP areas.
