From the Town of Mamaroneck:
From October 28 through December 20, 2013, the Town Highway Department will collect fall leaves. Leaves are to be placed in piles on the curb (not in the street) for collection. Leaves may also be put into biodegradable paper bags. Depending upon weather conditions, leaves will be collected from each street every 2 to 2-1/2 weeks. Do not mix branches, logs or brush with the leaves. Leaves containing these unacceptable materials will not be collected. Homeowners will be required to remove these materials at their own expense.
The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Joint Sanitation Commission will not collect organic waste after October 31, 2013. After this date, all organic waste EXCEPT fall leaves must be taken to the Maxwell Avenue Recycling Center. Current New York State and Westchester County Solid Waste regulations prohibit mixing organic waste with household waste.
Organic waste, other than fall leaves (i.e., grass clippings, plant trimmings, branches and twigs) must be put in biodegradable brown bags or a non-contaminated garbage can, and brought to the Town yard.
Tree branches and twigs cannot exceed 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter. They may be bundled and tied, placed in a biodegradable brown bag or a non-contaminated garbage can and brought to the Town Yard.
