The polls are open today at Larchmont’s Village Center in back of the until 9 p.m., where two vacant trustee seats and a mayoral seat are on the ballot.
There were some unanticipated shake-ups on the board this year. Former trustee Jaine Elkind Eney from the Larchmont board in early January in order to fill an empty trustee seat on the Town of Mamaroneck Board vacated by Supervisor Nancy Seligson. Then, in early February, Larchmont Mayor Josh Mandell this year, in part, because he never felt like a “natural mayor.”
The Larchmont Democratic Caucus nominated , a former village trustee who has served on the board for a decade. Incumbent , also a Democrat, will be running for re-election and newcomer (D)—who was temporarily appointed to fill Eney’s vacancy—will also be running for the trustee seat. All candidates are running unopposed and will form an all-Democratic board.
Despite the lack of competition in this race, all three candidates participated in a League of Women Voters ago to present their stances on a number of issues important to the community including the impact of revaluation, affordable housing and the potential for sharing essential services with other communities.
