Joseph M. Tighe, a resident of Darien, CT and former Larchmont resident, passed away in the comfort of his home on Sunday evening, March 2nd at the age of 76.

Joe was born on June 9, 1937 in Yonkers, NY. He spent much of his life in the NY/CT area raising six children with his beloved wife, Elaine, of 51 years. He later became a grandfather, warmly cherished as"Popsie" by his twenty grandchildren.

Joe was a special man who placed his family and friends above all. His athletic talents served him well during his years at Iona College where he has since been inducted in their Hall of Fame for basketball and part of his legacy is Iona's Goal Club.
  
After college Joe pursued a professional football career for five years in the Continental League.
  
He dedicated time to his career where he gained success in key management positions at RJR Nabisco, Heublein and Guinness.

Upon retirement, Joe continued his career in the beverage industry as a successful entrepreneur.

He was a longtime member of the Larchmont Shore Club and his home away from home was the Winged Foot Golf Club.

Joe is survived by his wife Elaine and family: Julie Carrabino (Joe), JD, Courtney, Billy; Jill Kelly (Joe), Kristi, Brittani, Joe, Kaitlin; Joe Tighe, Jr (Sabrina), Dominic, Bella, Fia; Joy Cummiskey (James), Kathleen, Jay, Elaina, Tighe, Caleigh; Jayne Jepsen (Christian), Coco, Thor; Jeana Roche (Kevin), Jillian, Kevin, Joe.
He was proud of each one and most enjoyed supporting them in all their endeavors. He will be forever in our hearts.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, March 8th at the Church of St. Augustine, Larchmont, NY.
