Former Mamaroneck Avenue Assistant Principal Dies at 79

Eleanor Butner, born August 24, 1934, in the Bronx, died November 22, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She was 79.

Loving wife, for 57 years, to the late Lawrence Butner. Devoted mother of David Butner, Robin (Butner) Weidy and Gary Weidy. Loving grandmother of Brian Weidy, Dora Butner and Sara Butner. Cherished sister of Sydney Schwartz, Jeffrey and Miriam Zuckerman and Barbara and Philip Pakula.  

Graduate of the Bronx High School of Science, she then received a bachelor’s degree from Baruch College, master’s degree from Manhattanville College and a master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University.  

Teacher and Assistant Principal at the Mamaroneck Avenue School in Mamaroneck, New York. Principal at the Robert W Carbonaro Elementary School in Valley Stream, New York. She then joined her husband as co-owner and Executive Vice President of Lawrence Butner Advertising, Inc. in New York City, a direct marketing company.  

Funeral service will be held at Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, 630 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY on Sunday November 24th at 9:30 a.m.
