Plates' Devotes Night for Small Groups to Party at Prix-Fixe Cost While Sharing the Facilities
A prix-fixe combined office-party-night called "My Holiday Party" will be held at Plates in Larchmont on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, with holiday music playing in the background.
The idea is to allow small groups to "share" the restaurant during the same evening. The groups meet and gather at the bar, are seated an hour later for dinner in their reserved sections of the restaurant, and can party throughout the evening. "The size of a group can be as small as two people," Plates' catering director Ben Javurek said.
Hors d'oeuvres from chef/owner Matthew Karp's kitchen will be passed out and drinks served as festivities begin at the bar at 6 p.m. and continue for an hour before seating for dinner. The following beverages are included at the bar at no additional cost: wine, beer, Christmas Cosmos, Hanukah High Balls, and soft drinks.
The agenda for the evening
- 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks at the bar
- 7 p.m. Seating at reserved tables for three-course (appetizer, entrée, dessert) dinner. Guests can sit at their tables any time between 6 and 7 p.m. The cost of alcoholic beverages ordered during dinner is not included in the prix-fixe cost.
- Closing. The partying ends when the last group has left.
The walls of Plates are decorated with plates collected by Karp from restaurants he worked at or visited in the U.S.A. and abroad during his cooking career.
The prix-fixe cost for the small-group dinner is $50 per person plus tax and gratuity. The regular dinner menu will be available for guests coming just for a meal and not participating in the combined office-party-night program.
