"Crafts at Lyndhurst" Show Returns This Weekend with 275 Artists, Food Concessions and Exhibitors

The twenty-ninth annual Fall Crafts at Lyndhurst fair will be held in Tarrytown this weekend, Friday through Sunday, September 20-22, 2013, with 275 artists and crafts people offering their wares, Artrider Productions assistant director Laura Kendel said. More than 15,000 visitors are expected to attend this event. Artrider also produces a similar spring-season crafts show at Lyndhurst.

Outdoor booths and indoor stands in mammoth tents will display jewelry, stylish clothing, leather, glassware, ceramics, woodwork, scenic photography, sculpture, handcrafted furniture, quilts, prints and paintings.

Two food concessions will appear at the fall show for the first time: Thai Taste Restaurant with Pad Thai and kabobs and Jimmy’s Soft Serve, a Westchester-based company, serving soft ice cream from its truck.
 
New specialty food vendors include: Pika’s Farm Table serving Liege Wafels; Sweet Muse offering fudge brownies 12 different ways; and Sabrosa Salt Company, a maker of finishing salts.

Tribe Hills, a nonprofit, collaborative music organization, will entertain with a bevy of live music performers on stage from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The selections will include folk, blues, country, rock and more. Both original pieces written by some of the artists and popular songs will be played. Seating will be available.

The puppet theater will not be back but children's activities are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday and will include a stilt-walker, balloon art, face painting and storytelling.
  
The show is managed by Artrider Productions, formed in 1983 to run crafts shows at Lyndhurst and elsewhere by Stacey Jarit and her husband and co-director Jeff Sobel, formerly a town planner for the Village of Tarrytown. 

The show goes on rain or shine. It opens each day at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. on Friday and Sunday and at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The admission costs are $10 per adult, $9 for seniors and $4 for children 6 to 16. Dogs are not permitted. Parking is free at nearby parking areas with frequent free shuttle-bus service.

Artrider and The National Trust for Historic Preservation hold a similar spring-time show at Lyndhurst. The dates for this event are May 2 to May 4, 2014. The fall 2014 crafts show is planned for September 12-14.
