Here is a list of day camps and summer programs in Northern Westchester and Putnam counties.

When it comes to planning a fun and enriching experience for your children, the many summer camps and programs in Putnam and northern Westchester offer something for every kind of ability, interest and schedule.

Whether your child can’t get enough baseball, or has a passion for painting, or seeks to be around others who share his or her special condition, there are plenty of camps in our region that cater to those interests. 

Here is just a sampling of great options: Programs that specialize in sports or the arts; day camps that are close to home; camps for kids who are theater-mad or crazy about computers; camps that keep academic skills honed over the summer months.  Of note:  The program consists of two hours in the morning of tennis or golf instruction followed by a 45-minute session of field sports, 90 minutes of swimming and a lunch period. After lunch there are two hours of tennis or golf instruction. Instruction is led by a team of certified PGA and USPTA professionals.

Of note: Featuring four heated pools, all sports program, beach/boating, tennis, mini-golf, arts and crafts, music, dance, drama, video music production and theater production. Camp Kiwi offers a traditional 5-day-a-week program, as well as mini-camp programs of two and three days a week. Door to door transportation or Metro North available.

Of note: Exciting summer camp programs in a spectacular 350-acre nature wonderland where kids enjoy a summer of fun, safe, and educational activities. Ages served: 3 groups: 7 to 10 years, 11 to 14 years, 15 & up
Of note: The two-week program offers all levels of actors, singers and dancers an opportunity to strengthen performance and audition skills with classes in ballet, hop-hop, tap, modern, jazz, choreography, improvisation, voice and a final performance at the end of the program.

Type: Summer camp
Ages served: 5 and up
Of note: The camp runs 6-week sessions from 9:30-2:30 Tuesday-Fridays. This is a hands-on camp for kids who love horses. Campers will learn to groom, tack up and untack their horses and bathe a horse. There will also be instruction on the parts of a horse and farrier and vet demonstrations.

Of note: Armonk Tennis Club hosts various sports and specialty camps throughout the summer season. Our 2012 junior day camps run from June 4 to August 24 for ages 3½ to 15 years. Explorers: ages 3 to 5 years. Pioneers: ages 6 to 10 years, Tennis: ages 6 to 15 years, Multi-Sports: ages 6 to 10 and Mad Science: ages 8 to 15 years.

Kids ages 8 to 13 years explore all aspects of filmmaking in a three-week series of dynamic daylong workshops. Teens ages 14 to 15 years take part in a more advanced three-week program, tailored to specific filmmaking disciplines.

Of note: This is a unique opportunity for your child to learn about the farm, and the animals that reside on the 777 acres of Muscoot Farm. Under the supervision of a Camp Director and an enthusiastic well-trained staff, children will collect eggs, milk cows, groom animals and bake traditional Muscoot recipes. Group size is limited to 12 children and camp does fill up very quickly. Call for more information.

Of note: Multiple camp options and drop-in soccer classes for kids ages 2 years and up throughout the region. Perfect for ages 2.5 to 5 years. Indoor Mini Camps are week-long morning camps featuring soccer, arts and crafts and snack. For ages 6 to 9 years and 9 to 12, years, “Kick It” is the perfect option - four hours of outdoor soccer fun. They also offer flexible drop-in soccer classes in Scarsdale.

Of note: Games and sports, playgrounds and pool activities. Extra hot or rainy days offer a fully air conditioned building with a stage for performing arts and a 10-foot TV screen as well as an inside gym and arts and crafts. Classroom time for math, spelling and reading games to ensure campers retain their knowledge through summertime fun.

Of note: A special program designed to allow structured activities, fun and games, arts and crafts, field trips, and introduction to basic weapons training combined with motivational martial arts fitness classes. Of note: Writopia Lab runs award-winning Creative Writing workshops. The week-long, half-day summer intensives are taught by published professional writers, and have no more than six students, grouped by age. Students write at least one polished piece by the end of each week.
