‘Circles of Peace’ Father’s Day Event to be Held at Harbor Island Park

In response to violent acts in Boston and Newtown a second Circle of Peace event is scheduled for Sunday.

Building on the momentum of the Mother’s Day Circles of Peace in support of nonviolence, local activist and Circles founder Hilde Friderichs has organized a second event timed for Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16 at 9:30 a.m. at Harbor Island Park.

The morning event is an informal gathering of residents who will come together for 30 minutes of inspirational words, music, meditation, and prayer, according to a press release.

Circles of Peace was created by Friderichs in the wake of Newtown massacre and Boston bombings, in order to give people in the Sound Shore community the opportunity to gather, promote healing and live life in a more mindful way. Friderichs, a licensed Reiki Master practitioner and mother of two, has called Mamaroneck home for nearly a decade. The event is open to the public.

"One of the advantages of a globally shrinking world is that we are realizing more and more how interconnected we all are,” Friderichs said in the release.  “So what we do to each other, to animals, to the environment around us, we also do to ourselves."
