Marty Appel, the author of "Pinstripe Empire: The New York Yankees from Before the Babe to After the Boss" and 17 other books. "Pinstripe Empire" was hailed as the definitive history of the team, and is the first narrative history of the Yankees in 70 years.
Appel spent 20 years with the Yankees as public relations director and television producer, and remains associated with the club through his appearances on the YES Network, his writing for their publications, and his work on their website, on which he interviews former Yankee players.
