Mamaroneck’s ‘Circles of Peace’ Marks One-Year
Anniversary of Sandy Hook at Mamaroneck Library– December 14
Circles of Peace, a Mamaroneck-based grass roots organization dedicated to promoting peace and the daily practice of mindfulness, invites the public to mark the one year anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy with a community gathering at the Mamaroneck Public Library on Saturday, December 14 at 10:30 a.m.
The group was founded one year ago by local community
activist and mother of two, Hilde Friderichs, in an effort to combat violence through
the daily practice of mindfulness and the celebration of life through art,
music and shared contemplation. Over the past year, Circles of Peace has held
three gatherings, including a public art installation, open air poetry readings
and concerts, and guided group meditation, all focused on bringing members of
the community together heal the wounds inflicted by violent episodes such as
Sandy Hook.
