Acclaimed Physician to Address Cancer Support Team's Luncheon

The public is invited to Cancer Support Team's (CST) 15th annual Gayle K. Lee Women’s Health Awareness Luncheon on Thursday, October 10, at the Westchester Country Club in Rye at noon to hear Anne Moore M.D., the featured speaker.  Dr. Moore’s presentation is entitled “Breast Cancer 2013: What You Need to Know.”  The Luncheon’s goal is to heighten awareness of women’s health issues by emphasizing cancer prevention and survivorship.  


Dr. Moore is a Professor of Clinical Medicine and Medical Director of the Weill
Cornell Breast Center. Although Dr. Moore is primarily interested in patient care, she is involved in teaching and research activities.  Dr. Moore's current clinical research is involved in teaching and research activities. Her current clinical research includes breast cancer clinical trials and, as part of the Survivorship Program at the Breast Center, she collaborates in studies of side effects of medications commonly used in breast cancer. She is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and is listed among "The Best Doctors" by American Health Magazine and by New York Magazine. Dr. Moore was a pioneer, becoming one of the first female physicans in the 1970's treating breast cancer.

 
CST, 35 years old and licensed by the New York State Department of Health, is the only Westchester-based home care program that is solely cancer-focused and that offers services free of charge, without regard to income or insurance coverage.


Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families in lower Westchester who are affected by cancer.  CST’s professional staff of nurses, social workers and case managers, as well as an extensive network of volunteers, provides medical and support services at any stage of the disease.  In 2012 the Team served 521 individuals and made 1,987 in-person visits, primarily to patients’ homes.(www.cancersupportteam.org)

The Luncheon’s Honorary Co-Chairs are Mary Jane Arrigoni of Greenwich and Suzanne O’Sullivan of New York City. The Co-Chairs are Bonnie Gould of Scarsdale, Judy Boyle of New Rochelle and Irene Soden of Pleasantville. Tickets for the Luncheon are $125, a portion of which is tax-deductible.
