Course purpose: To inform architects about the strain NYC's Construction & Demolition (C+D) waste puts on our natural environment, and how implementing waste management practices in the design, remodeling and demolition stages can relieve these burdens. 
Objectives:
  • To acquire knowledge about the current C+D waste issues in NYC metropolitan area and the effects it has on the environment.
  • To assess issues that arise from recycling, and how salvage and re-use provides a more sustainable alternative.
  • Participants will learn how to integrate Deconstruction into their next project.
  • Examine how Deconstruction and salvage can positively impact their community.
