Triplets on Palmer Ave – 3 Chances to Shop Independent Retailers

Mother-daughter storekeepers strive to make Larchmont a shopping destination.

Judy Graham and her daughter Abbie Durkin, co-owners of Pink on Palmer, have enjoyed experimenting in the ten years since hanging out their shingle at the intersection of Palmer and Chatsworth.

Sprinkling in women's accessories to their lineup of skincare, cosmetics, and haircare products, the mother-daughter duo had a chance to see what worked. “For a time, we would add accessories and they did very well, but,” said Graham, "it just didn’t feel like they were in the right place.” So Graham and Durkin leased the space next door to Pink on Palmer, and opened a twin store called Clutch

Then, after separating out the accessories, Graham resumed experimenting, adding items like trays and vases to the mix. But that didn’t feel right either. So, two weeks ago Graham over yet another storefront when a women’s clothing store vacated space two doors down.

Graham moved Clutch down one door because the space did not require renovation. Then the former Clutch space became home to a brand new store: The Manor Home

Since opening just two weeks ago, The Manor Home, managed by Laurel Stevens, is off to a great start. "The monogrammed glassed, both glass and acrylic, do very well," said Stevens. Also the paper placemats, recycled plastic area rugs, and the baby gifts are very popular."

Graham is adamant that in order for Larchmont to be a shopping destination, the more independent retailers the better. "If you want people to get in the car and make a trip, get out of the car and walk around, you have to offer them something unique."
