Although the signs of spring are all around us—days of 55 degree temperatures and new plants shooting up through the dirt—the weather forecasted for tonight is a reminder that winter storms are not yet a thing of the past.
There is a winter weather advisory in effect for Larchmont and Mamaroneck until 10 a.m. tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Snow is expected to fall tonight before 9 p.m., followed by a melange of snow, sleet and rain continuing until 1 a.m. From 1 a.m. onward, rain and sleet will continue, making for a slushy commute in the morning. Winds as high as 32 mph are predicted.
The NWS warns of potentiall treacherous roadways and limited visibility while traveling.
The Mamaroneck School District has cancelled all evening activities at local schools; afternoon activities will end at 5 p.m. Children's Corner will end at 6 p.m., according to a recorded message from the district.
