Vacation Workout Blues

Welcome to my life and my fitness journey. Let's look into what happens when you leave your fitness comfort zone and go on vacation.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen readers of the Patch.  Please allow me to introduce myself...my name is Cecilia Tornes-Zapata.  I am a Cuban-American woman and the mother of two beautiful children and I want to connect with all of you on a fitness level that we can all relate to.  I will be sharing stories and experiences that will hopefully help you manage your life and balance a little nutrition and exercise while you're at it. I am 36-years-old and have been married for almost 10 years.  My daughter, Sofia, is 7-years-old, and my son, Willie, is 1.

I have been a working mother through both of my pregnancies.  Not only did I have an eight-hour, five day a week, 9-5 job, and a growing belly, but I worked out until my last month!!  Yes ladies, a fit mom is a stronger mom. I had an easy delivery and quick recovery.  While pregnant with my son, I was (and still am) a full time group fitness instructor.  I went into labor on my last day of teaching!!

The secret is simple...desire and motivation.  It's that simple.  Just because it hurts or makes you a little sore and uncomfortable, it is not an excuse to give up, nor is the ever popular...I'm just taking a break...an excuse. Not only must your body endure, but your mind needs to say... yes!!!  I am going to do it and make every second count.

It's really easy to post links and motivational photos on Facebook or Twitter, but it is a whole other story to live it and inspire not only yourself, but the people around you.

Going on vacation is thrilling, but what happens to your workout regimen?

Here is an option:  find a hotel with a fitness room.  All you really need are some free weights and a cardio machine or two.  You can also do a few laps in the pool if one is accessible or just take a long walk and take in the sights.  It's really not that hard.

I just took a short vacation, and believe me, it was tough enough to even pack a spandex outfit, considering it's what I do for a living, but I did it.  The truth is, it never left my suitcase, but I took long walks with the kids, and did a ton of laps in the pool.  I remained the same size and weight I was when I left.  Vacation does not have to mean kill yourself to get thin and blow it once you get to your vacation destination...the words to remember are...determination and motivation!!!

Thank you all for taking a few minutes of your time to read my blog. I hope you all enjoy it, and find it helpful.  if not, I hope my stories and life experiences will entertain you and at least make you all smile!!

Until next time...
