Welcomes Five New Board Members

Board of Directors approves distinguished local residents

who demonstrate leadership and influence

Westchester, N.Y. (February, 2014) – The United Way of Westchester and Putnam  Board of Directors welcomed five new members; all of whom have committed to improving the education, income and health of residents in Westchester and Putnam counties.

The new members are:

Stephen R. Shealy: Mr. Shealy has been the Vice President, Market Manager for People's United Bank’s  Westchester and White Plains Business Markets since 2007. He’s opened multiple branches for the bank in the cities of Scarsdale, Mt. Kisco, White Plains, Thornwood, Mamaroneck and Bronxville. He currently manages twelve branches in the territories of Westchester and Putnam County. Shealy has been a volunteer with the Scarsdale-Edgemont United Way Community Board since 2007. Prior, Shealy served on the Asset Allocation Committee of the United Way of Greenwich. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Politics and Government. He is also a graduate of the Quinnipiac University School of Law.


Anthony J. Romeo: Mr. Romeo began his career at Steiner Sports in product development and worked his way up to Executive Vice President of Sales. He now oversees Corporate Marketing for Steiner Sports. Romeo was a main contributor in securing the Notre Dame-Steiner partnership as well as overseeing the demolition of the old Yankee Stadium in 2008. Romeo attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan earning a double major in Finance & Marketing and a minor in Graphic Design.


Annie Huang, Yonkers:  Ms. Huang is the senior assistant to the mayor of Yonkers since February 2012. She manages special projects dedicated to the improvement of Yonkers in the areas of education, economic development, public works, public safety, and government efficiency. Huang is instrumental in completing and summarizing extensive research and analysis on a wide range of policy matters for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. She also has Masters of Public Administration from Baruch College City University of New York.


June K. Blanc, Mount Kisco:  Ms. Blanc has dedicated her life to her community through extensive volunteer work. She is heavily involved in the Northern Westchester Hospital, most recently as Chair of the President’s Council (2001-present) and as Trustee Emeritus for the hospital foundation. Blanc is on the Teatown Lake Reservation Executive Committee. She served on the Town of New Castle Planning Board and Zoning Board for many years as well as the Board of Governors for the Junior League of Northern Westchester. June is a graduate of Smith College with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and also graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Masters of Science in Community and Regional planning.

Ross Buchmueller, Mamaroneck: Mr. Buckmueller serves as President & Chief Executive Officer of Privilege Underwriters, Inc., the holding company for the PURE Group of Insurance Companies.  Buchmueller has overseen and continues to drive the long term strategic growth and success of the PURE Group and serves as a member of PURE’s Subscribers’ Advisory Committee.  In 1999, Ross started AIG Private Client Group and served as its president until leaving to form PURE in 2006.  Ross began his career at the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, where he spent 12 years, and held several positions including Senior Vice President of Chubb Insurance Company of Europe. Ross holds a BA from Trinity College.

Scott Morrison, Chappaqua:  Scott Morrison is the new chair-elect for the board of directors of United Way of Westchester and Putnam Counties and a board member of United Way of New York State. He is currently Vice President, Information Systems Prescription Medicines at Boehringer Ingelheim. He joined BI in 2008 and led IS Prescription Medicines and Consumer Healthcare (US), based in Ridgefield, CT.  Previously, he worked for Pfizer for more than 20 years, most recently as Vice President of Global Business Technology - Japan/Asia and Latin America. For five of those years, he was based in Tokyo, where as Member of the Board of Pfizer Japan, he formed the Business Technology-Japan division. Morrison received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT, and completed an MS in Industrial Administration (MBA) at Carnegie Mellon University.

New board members were sworn in during the United Way board meeting at the end of 2013.
